Florida Hairstylist Fatally Stabbed in Luxury Apartment Parking Garage by Knife-Wielding Attacker
A 27-year-old hairstylist was fatally stabbed in a luxury apartment parking garage in Sunrise, Florida, early on May 28. The incident unfolded when Hailey Hosford exited a rental car at the Retreat at Sawgrass Village, only to be confronted by Jackson Sagesse, who was armed with a knife.

Witnesses reported that the confrontation began just after 1:30 a.m. As Sagesse approached, Hosford attempted to escape by jumping back into the car. However, Sagesse, described as weighing 280 pounds, forcibly opened the rear passenger door, initiating a violent struggle.

Security footage captured Sagesse making repeated stabbing motions inside the vehicle. During the chaos, Hosford's male friend returned from his apartment and intervened, leading to a physical altercation between the two men. Sagesse then stabbed the friend in the throat before he managed to flee and call for help.

After the attack, Sagesse reportedly tried to drive away in the rental car but was unsuccessful. He was seen searching the garage for evidence before leaving the scene. Police later discovered Hosford unresponsive inside the vehicle, having sustained multiple stab wounds to her neck and throat. She was pronounced dead at 2:01 a.m.

The friend who intervened suffered a puncture wound but survived. Hosford was known for her work as a beauty salon owner in Fort Lauderdale and as an ambassador for a yoga and retreat company. Friends described her as a “force to be reckoned with.”
Aubrey Rosebrock, a close friend of Hosford, shared her last message: “I just wanted to tell you that the sun is shining, the sky is blue, the water is turquoise, and that I love you much, and that you mean the world to me.” Rosebrock emphasized that Hosford should not be remembered as just another victim but as someone who brought goodness into the world.

Following the incident, employees at the Retreat recognized Sagesse from surveillance footage and directed police to his residence within the complex. Officers apprehended him while he wore clothing matching that of the suspect in the video.

Upon searching Sagesse's apartment, detectives found blood on the rear door and noted that two knives were missing from the kitchen knife block, which matched descriptions of the weapon used in the attack. After being read his Miranda rights, Sagesse allegedly confessed to the stabbings, stating, “I just killed someone and walked away.”

Inconsistent with his statements, Sagesse claimed he had been on his way to the gym when he noticed the rental car with its lights on. He stated he intended to call 911 but returned home to retrieve a kitchen knife for personal protection. He described his actions as “murdering for self-defense” but could not specify any threats he faced.
Authorities have charged Sagesse with premeditated murder and attempted first-degree murder. He is currently being held without bond at Broward County Jail.
