AT the age of 15, Jay Walker went blind in a matter of hours. Now 18 years old, Jay’s condition is still a mystery to doctors who have not been able to give her a formal diagnosis. In 2017, Jay lost her sense of taste and smell after experiencing bizarre swelling symptoms in her face, then, in December 2018, Jay suffered swelling again. However, this time, the pressures in Jay’s eyes were immense. In just four hours, Jay went blind and was later told by doctors it was permanent. Jay’s life changed drastically and she is determined to keep moving forward. Now a college student, Jay’s future ambitions include writing a book about her experiences. Jay said: “I know how I want to feel and I know that I want to be happy and I know that I want to feel successful. And I want to feel like I've fulfilled something. And that I've made a difference in whether it be a million people or one.”
