Watch Bette Midler's emotional speech at Variety's Power of Women event. The diva sang, and revealed the origins of the Divine Miss M, the character she created when Hollywood wouldn't cast her.
Midler also shared her journey with the NYRP, the charity she started to clean up New York's parks and green spaces, because, "When a job needs to be done and nobody’s doing it, you step forward and you do it yourself. That’s what empowerment means to me."
