Exclusive: ‘Midsommar’ Director Ari Aster and Stars Preview the Highly Anticipated Horror Flick
Jun 18 2019
Director Ari Aster and stars Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor sat down for an exclusive extended interview about Aster’s follow-up to ‘Hereditary,’ ‘Midsommar,’ ahead of the film’s first public screenings. Described as a breakup film with some serious horror elements, and set during a once-every-90-years Swedish festival where the sun never sets, the buzz is that ‘Midsommar’ is one of the most original scary movies to come along in years. Here, Aster, Pugh, and Reynor talk about the folklore that inspired the movie, the challenges of creating a horror film set entirely in sunlight, and how the movie differs from ‘Hereditary.’ Plus, they have a piece of advice for moviegoers about to take the ‘Midsommar’ ride: “Watch the walls.”
