What Are The Too Hot To Handle Couples Up To Now?
Apr 23 2020
Netflix struck reality TV gold once again with Too Hot to Handle, an unconventional dating show that challenges single contestants to live in a villa while staying completely celibate for four weeks. If they have any intimate relations with each other, they lose money from the $100,000 grand prize. Spoilers ahead!
Despite the temptation of the grand prize, several contestants hooked up and lost money for the sake of their growing connections. By the end of the show, there were three promising pairings: Harry and Francesca, Rhonda and Sharron, and David and Lydia. As these couples got to know each other, they couldn't seem to resist connecting physically, bringing the grand prize down to a mere $75,000 split between the 10 finalists.
The series was filmed in March and April 2019, so fans are wondering whether any of the couples are still together now. Here's where each of them stands, one year later.
Harry and Francesca developed an immediate connection in the Too Hot to Handle villa, so they caused the most deductions from the grand prize at $32,000 total. With Harry living in Australia and Francesca living in Canada, the pair definitely faced some challenges back in the real world. On the show, they'd discussed moving to the same country to be together, and it looks like that may have happened — Harry's Instagram indicates that he now lives in Los Angeles, while Francesca's page says she splits her time between Vancouver and LA. It seems like they visited each other before that, too — in 2019, Harry posted photos in Canada and Francesca in Australia.
But there are also signs that Harry and Francesca may have called it quits. On Valentine's Day 2020, Francesca shared a selfie with the location tagged "Single Island," captioning the post,
"happy V day to everyone getting drunk w their friends tonight & NOT texting their exes "
Harry's message was similarly cryptic, as he wrote,
"As Valentine's Day approaches it's a good time to think about relationships and how it's two people coming together to solve problems you wouldn't have if you were just single."
Rhonda and Sharron cost the group the second-most amount of money with a total deduction of $16,000. Despite a semi-rocky start, the two Americans quickly became one of the show's strongest couples, and they'd made it official by the end of the series.
Unfortunately for fans, Sharron and Rhonda haven't dropped any clues about the current status of their relationship — no selfies, location tags, or anything. However, they do follow each other, according to POPSUGAR, and Sharron often likes Rhonda's photos. He's even commented on one. Notably, though, Rhonda didn't like or reply to Sharron's comment, despite doing so with all of her other former castmates, per Yahoo! Lifestyle.
It's hard to tell if the lack of social media interaction really means anything or not — they could be together and simply trying to maintain privacy, or they could have broken up and remained Instagram friends. Truly, we're grasping at straws here.
"It's a mystery! It's a mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enigma!"
David and Lydia were one of the last couples to form on Too Hot to Handle, since Lydia didn't join the series until episode six. However, they didn't leave the show as an official couple. Still, it seemed like a committed relationship was definitely possible after the show, given their chemistry. Making matters even more promising? Both David and Lydia are conveniently based in the UK.
David and Lydia have flirted with each other on social media quite a bit since the show ended. But like their other castmates, the pair have remained quiet about whether they're in a relationship. They do follow each other, but in one 2019 post, David seemingly indicated that he's single by jokingly opening his DMs for dating applications. Was it a clever smokescreen? A joke? No one's quite sure.
Clearly, viewers need a Too Hot to Handle reunion show to answer fans' questions once and for all. Your move, Netflix.
