Kelly Clarkson Is Unrecognizable In Isolation

While everyone hunkers down at home, social media seems to be the best way to engage with the world. Since no one has anywhere to go, who cares about hair, makeup and the glam life of a world before lockdown? In a refreshing turn of events, it seems like people on social media are fine with documenting the more casual side of things, too. Rather than using Instagram as a place to share a highly curated photo of a perfect life, it seems like people — celebrities included — are happy posting their makeup-free faces, messy hair, and assortment of sweatpants — and our girl Kelly Clarkson is joining in. Clarkson has been really active during lockdown. She's been busy with The Kelly Clarkson Show, serenading fans through "Kellyoke," and she released a new song — plus she's the quarantine queen of social media. On Instagram, Clarkson recently shared the cutest video of herself, and she doesn't look like the glamorous judge fans are so used to seeing on The Voice. But you know what? It's even better. Clarkson chatted about life, and then, to honor Kenny Rogers, she performed a cover of his song, "Sweet Music Man," saying it was her favorite of all of his songs. After that, Clarkson shared how Amazon has been a life-saver during quarantine because her 3-year-old son had grown out of his clothes. But then she went off on a slight tangent, after being concerned that people might call her out on talking about ordering clothes during the coronavirus pandemic. She said, "We really should just all be kind. Whether it's a person in the limelight or a person at home, people doing videos are just trying to make people happy and give you a distraction so maybe ease up on humans for right now." She makes a fair point — and fans echoed her positive sentiment. One user commented, "You are delightful!" Another wrote, "Great tribute sweetheart! Isn't it liberating to show the world the natural you, talent taking front and center. Beautiful Kelly!" On April 30th, she jumped on YouTube to share her latest "Kellyoke" song on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Clarkson chose Madonna's "Like a Prayer" — and it's absolutely gorgeous! While Clarkson sang from her Montana ranch, her bandmates joined in virtually and the video features the band rocking out in their homes or backyards. Of course, fans were all about it and praised America's original Idol for her energy and stamina during lockdown. One fan wrote, "She's never been bored during this pandemic quarantine while [I'm being too] lazy to be productive. Give me your energy, Kelly!" "Responsible and stable? Not two adjectives people generally use with me." Another fan wrote: "Doesn't surprise me anymore She can sing anything!!!! Best vocalist in the last 2 decades!!!!" And someone else wrote: "She is such a great natural singer. [...] She doesn't have to add anything." Natural seems to be the theme for Clarkson during the coronavirus. She doesn't need any enhancements, and that goes for both makeup and her voice! On April 16th, the singer released her newest song, "I Dare You." Her message throughout lockdown has been consistently dedicated to spreading love and compassion, and her newest song is no different. On the Today show, Clarkson spoke about the project, saying, "The message was perfect. I thought it was kind of globally connecting, and I wanted to do that musically. We were going to shelve it for a minute, but it was planned to come out today and I thought, maybe people need this message today." "Before the pandemic we thought it was a globally connecting environment, the message, but now even more so." The message of "I Dare You" is to choose love. Clarkson explained, "It's basically like, I dare you to love instead of fear, instead of hate." The pop star shared that when she gets into a funk, she talks it out — she'll get on the phone with her assistant or her mom and talk things out until she feels better. Clearly that helps, because she's able to transmit such an uplifting message in her newest song as well as in her positive presence online.
