Born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete on February 15th, 1995, Megan Thee Stallion was first inspired to make music by her rapper mother, Holly Thomas. She performed under the name Holly-Wood and brought Megan to the studio when she was a child. Megan told Vulture in 2019, "My mom [was] the first female rapper I've ever known. Really, I was ear to the door, thinking, 'Yeah, uh-huh, I’ma do that, too.'" Megan claims that she's been writing lyrics since way back when she was just 7 years old, and was initially shy about sharing her talents. When she finally began chasing a hip-hop career, her mom was surprised by the adult nature of the lyrics coming out of her child's mouth.
