Celebrity can be fragile, but due to the nature of reality TV, it's reality TV stars in particular who have an especially tough time with sudden scandals. Here are a few who destroyed their careers in a matter of seconds. Renee Alway, the third place contestant from America's Next Top Model's eighth cycle, went from the runway in 2007 to being homeless and addicted to drugs in just five short years. Alway was arrested in June 2013 and was found guilty of felony burglary, vehicle theft, firearms charges, and misdemeanor charges from a prior arrest. She received a 12-year prison sentence, of which she served five years. Alway spoke with ABC News affiliate KESQ in 2015 while still in prison, revealing, "I felt like a failure [after ANTM] because I couldn't get past the reality TV stigma that had been put on me...and then there's the pressure of the fans. 'Where are you?' 'What happened?' It's almost like a setup for failure...There are plenty of girls who were eliminated and they're doing just fine so, obviously, I made choices that brought me here as well." TMZ first reported the former model's release from prison in 2018, as well as the arrest in 2019 that put her back behind bars. Alway was again charged, this time with a variety of offenses, including assault with a deadly weapon, terrorist threats, and a violation of parole.
