Here's What You Should Know About Sweet Home Sextuplets

Family-friendly reality show, Sweet Home Sextuplets, premiered in 2018 and follows the lives of Eric and Courtney Waldrop and their whopping nine children, including a pair of twins and, of course, sextuplets! So how did the couple end up with nine kiddos? The Alabama duo originally had three boys and wanted just one more child, but, after undergoing fertility treatments, they ended up with six buns in the oven. The family welcomed three boys and three girls in 2017; Tag, Layke, Blu, Rivers, Rawlings, and Rayne. Fans have fallen in love with the Waldrop clan ever since, and with the premiere of Season 3 in June 2020, audiences have become even more involved in the proud parents' lives. But whether you're new to the show, or a fan from the very start, here's the scoop on TLC's Sweet Home Sextuplets. It's already rare to meet your future spouse in high school. But Eric and Courtney Waldrop beat the odds and then some when they found each other way back in eighth grade. The couple's sweet love story was featured in the show's 2018 premiere, with Eric sharing, "Courtney and I, we've been together since eighth grade and never been with anybody else. So it's kind of like one of those, I guess you could say, not high-school sweethearts, junior-high sweethearts." Both Alabama natives attended Auburn University, and it was there that Eric popped the question. The two married in 2004, just a month after their graduation, and four years later, they welcomed their oldest son, Saylor. Then came Bridge and Wales in 2012, followed by the surprise of a lifetime, sextuplets. Courtney joked, "We don't even remember life before because it was like we were babies when we started dating." But for Eric and Courtney, starting their family wasn't an easy task. After the birth of their first, Saylor, the two experienced a second pregnancy, which resulted in a miscarriage, according to TLC. The network also reported that Courtney's doctor then discovered, "[She] had a blood clotting disorder which could risk both baby and mother's life, so they turned to fertility medication." The medication was successful, and resulted in the addition of twins to the family. But when the two tried to have a fourth child, Courtney miscarried again. She revealed to People magazine, "It was devastating because I can get pregnant so easily, I just can't hold on to them. It was upsetting, but we had experienced it before and I knew I had a medical issue that contributed to it." With the success of the first round of fertility medication, Courtney's doctor decided to put her on a low-dose treatment that would diminish the potential for more than two fetuses. The plan resulted in a viable pregnancy, but instead of two babies, the couple got six. But instead of feeling pure joy, Eric and Courtney were faced with the tough decision as to whether they were going to keep them all. The Waldrops lived an hour away from the hospital, where roughly 37 staff members were awaiting their arrival. And considering cameras began following the couple at 25 weeks, viewers shared in all of the chaos. Fortunately, the sextuplets arrived safe and sound, in December 2017. Sweet Home Sextuplets became a fan favorite immediately after its 2018 premiere, which should come as no surprise given how cute the Waldrop kids are. And while it's a bit unclear just how much the Waldrop's make per episode, Distractify guessed, "[It could] be anywhere between $25,000 per episode [like the Duggars make on Counting On] and $25,000 per season, like the less seasoned Married at First Sight stars bring home." To fans' delight, Courtney announced a Season 3 for the show, via Facebook, in November 2019, writing, "We are excited and have already started filming!! I do not have a date [for] when the Season will premiere BUT I will say it will be around Spring [or] Summer. Get ready there are SO many things happening this season!!
