Bindi Irwin And Chandler Powell Just Shared Exciting News With Fans

It's already been a super exciting year for Bindi Irwin, wildlife conservationist and daughter of the late, great Steve Irwin, thus far. She married her longtime love, Chandler Powell, in March 2020 in an intimate ceremony at Australia Zoo. Irwin shared a gushing tribute to her new husband, writing on Instagram: "Chandler, when I went to write my vows I found I couldn't stop writing them." The Crocodile Hunter's daughter admitted it felt like they'd been married for years, detailing how much of life they'd already experienced as a team, which led to the creation of an unbreakable bond. Powell proposed to Irwin in July 2019, on her 21st birthday -- a moment that came as a total surprise to Bindi for several reasons. In her wedding post, the animal conservationist described their love as "unconditional" and "meant to be." Although only a few witnesses attended the ceremony, it was clear it meant everything to the young couple. Now, it seems the good times are continuing to roll as their next big milestone is revealed to the world. So what's their big news? That's right: Irwin again took to social media to share that she and Powell are expecting their first child together. Alongside an adorable shot of the happy couple dressed in matching zookeeper fatigues, holding up a tiny Australia Zoo shirt for their little arrival, Irwin wrote on Instagram, "Baby Wildlife Warrior due 2021. Chandler and I are proud to announce that we're expecting!" The 22-year-old admitted that, although it's early days, she couldn't wait to share the news with fans, adding: "We really want you to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter. This beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives." Powell naturally shared in her excitement, reposting the shot to his own page and remarking, "Becoming a dad is the highlight of my life. I cannot wait to embark on this new adventure and life chapter with my gorgeous wife." Irwin told ET back in 2018 that she reckons her late father would approve of Powell, saying: "He’s always up for a challenge. [...] So, I hope dad would love Chandler. We all love him." Now that the couple have a baby on the way, they're about to face their biggest challenge yet, and without a crocodile in sight. Irwin's mom, Terri Irwin, is thrilled about the news. The happy grandma-to-be wrote on Twitter: "This is the best day ever! I am over the moon to announce that [Bindi and Chandler] are going to have a baby! Words cannot express the love that is filling my heart. While I wish that Steve was here to share this beautiful moment, I know that he would be so proud." Irwin's brother, Robert Irwin, is also excited for the joyful news. Alongside a picture of the family, he tweeted: "The best news ever! I am so happy for Bindi & Chandler to be welcoming a new member of the family. I can't believe I'm going to be an uncle! Incredibly excited for this brilliant new chapter and all the fun adventures ahead with a new little Wildlife Warrior!" While Irwin and Powell haven't announced a baby name yet, fans are convinced that, if the baby is a boy, they will name him after Irwin's father, Steve Irwin. One fan tweeted: "I just know if Bindi Irwin has a boy the middle name will be 'Steve,' and I'm not emotionally prepared for that announcement." Another tweeted: "Omg Bindi Irwin is pregnant! If it's a boy she gotta include something about Steve in the name." In April, a source told Australian outlet New Idea that the couple were already planning a family a month after their wedding and had plans to name their future baby Steve. Given how determined Irwin has been to keep her late father a part of her life, even making sure to honor his memory on her wedding day, it's quite possible that she may name her baby after the Crocodile Hunter.
