And since the 90’s never really ended (at least in fashion), we’re taking a look back at the band that empowered young women all over the world. After showing up to an open call audition, the five girls got together and formed their musical group. Signing with Virgin Records meant making it into the mainstream music industry. With the release of their debut single, Wannabe, the girls became icons of feminist power and fun 90’s pop music. After the success of their first album, Spice, the girls flexed their acting skills, creating the now cult film Spice World. The style, aesthetic, and campy fashion of the film appealed to fans of all ages. The Spice Girls were responsible for many fashion trends that live on today into 2020. After breaking up in the early 2000’s, the band members all went on to form solo careers. The band minus Posh Spice performed at a European reunion tour in 2019.
