Mila Kunis Was Sued By Her Childhood Friend For A Bizarre Reason
Dec 02 2020
We hope you're sitting down, because what you're about to hear certainly isn't your regular dose of celebrity gossip. First things first: Did you know that Mila Kunis was once sued by a supposed childhood friend, and the reason involves a chicken of all things? Impossible, yes, but it's true. Before we dive into this scandal, here's a little bit of important background for you: The superstar actress famously wed actor Ashton Kutcher back in 2015, with whom she shares two children.
As for her life before becoming a Hollywood star? Well, when she was seven years old, Kunis immigrated from Ukraine to Los Angeles, California with her family. Don't worry: You'll see why this little tidbit is important in one hot minute. Kunis began taking acting lessons as a child and they clearly paid off big time down the line. She starred as Jackie in the sitcom That '70s Show and voiced the character of Meg on Family Guy. Kunis has also enjoyed plenty of memorable moments on the silver screen: She starred alongside Natalie Portman in Black Swan... and who could forget her star turn in Forgetting Sarah Marshall?
Anyway. Before Kunis went ahead and conquered Hollywood, she allegedly ruffled quite a few feathers back in her home country. In a highly bizarre 2015 lawsuit, a woman named Kristina Karo accused the star of stealing her beloved pet chicken back in the day. According to Page Six, the lawsuit claimed that a very young Kunis used to visit Karo's house and giddily play with her fine-feathered friend, whose name was improbably "Doggie." Karo's lawsuit alleged that Kunis ended up selfishly snatching the bird for keeps, basically accusing her of being a garden-variety chicken thief. As TMZ reports, Karo claimed Kunis told her in no uncertain terms:
"Kristina, you can have any other chicken as a pet, you have a whole chicken farm."
The lawsuit also claimed that Karo was owed five-thousand dollars for all the resulting trauma and numerous counseling fees. So yeah… all in all, this is a pretty wild story. And we imagine you're probably wondering aloud how Kunis reacted to all this.
Well, not surprisingly, she found the saga rather hilarious. In a 2015 video posted to social media, Kunis and Ashton Kutcher made absolutely no attempt to contain their laughter, with Kunis deadpanning:
"I was devastated. I was weeping. I was dumbfounded. I was like, 'which chicken did I steal?'"
In the video, Kunis claims she was never physically served with the lawsuit. What's more, she seemed to suggest the whole drama was part of some publicity stunt to get Kunis to watch one of Karo's music videos. Interesting theory… but does this really look like an aspiring pop star who's starved for attention? Okay, yes, maybe it does. Taking to the defunct social app Meerkat, Kunis quipped,
"I would like to launch a counter $5,000 lawsuit for making me watch your music video shamelessly."
Kunis also claimed that
"My body hurts. My eyes hurt. They're burning. That requires money."
Meanwhile, Kutcher pointedly noted that
"The girl has a music video coming out at the same time she's suing you for $5,000."
According to AV Club, Karo filed this loosey-goosey lawsuit while moving to Los Angeles and releasing her music video for the ill-advised song "Give Me Green Card." That all but forced Kunis and Kutcher to watch the clip. In a video testimonial, Karo told TMZ:
"I saw [Kunis] and these memories came rushing in."
Ultimately, Karo dropped the lawsuit, telling TMZ,
"I've learned to forgive in my heart the people who have wronged me, like Mila. [...] I pray for her soul and the soul of Doggie, that he has found peace finally in chicken heaven."
To end on something of a positive note, Karo hasn't posted a new video since 2016 when she supposedly "ran for president." Yet somehow, we strongly suspect we haven't seen or heard the last of this supernova.
