Known affectionately as the queen of people's hearts, Princess Diana was beloved all around the world. While many aspects of her life are common knowledge, however, there are some things even longtime fans of the royals may not know about her. This is the untold truth of Princess Diana. Even as a child, Princess Diana was no stranger to the royal family. Diana, born on July 1st 1961, was the youngest daughter of the Viscount and Viscountess Althorp, who later became the late Earl Spencer and the Honorable Mrs Shand-Kydd. She was born at Sandringham, one of the Queen's private estates, and spent much of her early childhood there, too. Diana also counted the young princes Edward and Andrew among her childhood playmates, and even knew Queen Elizabeth as "Aunt Lilibet." Diana's father had served as a royal equerry in the palace, first for King George and later for a young Queen Elizabeth, while her mother had been a lady-in-waiting for the Queen Mother. In fact, when Diana's parents married in 1954, the Queen was "the chief guest" at the wedding — and the ceremony, which was held in Westminster Abbey, was considered to be the social event of the year.
