Dr. Dre Just Got Devastating News During His Hospitalization
Jan 06 2021
The bad news hasn't stopped rolling in for Dr. Dre in 2021. On January 5th, 2021, TMZ reported that the rapper was admitted to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center ICU unit in Los Angeles after suffering a brain aneurysm on January 4th, 2021. Insiders told the outlet that Dre is, quote, "stable and lucid." Meanwhile, doctors are busy running tests to figure out what caused the aneurysm.
The previous year had been a rocky one for the music mogul as well due to the ongoing stress of dealing with his divorce from his wife of 24 years, Nicole Young. According to TMZ, Young cited, quote, "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. The couple had previously been spotted at the Tom Ford AW20 show in February 2020 and were "all smiles," according to The Blast. Young is asking for a cool $2 million per month in spousal support, but Dr. Dre, who is reportedly worth approximately $800 million, has pushed back, according to TMZ.
A messy divorce paired with a serious health scare is quite a lot for one person to handle, but now, it looks like Dr. Dre has yet another issue to be worried about: a shocking crime that almost took place when he was hospitalized.
After reports of Dr. Dre's hospitalization circulated, a group of four burglars seemingly thought his absence would allow the perfect opportunity to get their hands on some valuables inside the rapper's Pacific Palisades mansion, per TMZ. The men were spotted by security around 2 a.m. on Jan. 6, 2021, and were subsequently chased off the property (ABC reported the burglars arrived at his house at 10 p.m. on January 5th). The police quickly responded to a call from Dr. Dre's security team, allowing them to catch the four men as they fled the scene. The men were immediately arrested for attempted burglary.
As always, the internet was quick to respond to the surprising news. One user questioned,
"Do they not think a millionaire will have a million dollar alarm system?"
Songwriter Citizen Cope wrote,
"His alarm probably even sounds dope. Jokes aside wishing a healthy recovery. One of my favorite producers of all time."
Meanwhile, some were not too surprised the attempted burglary occurred, and cautioned all to be wary of what they post on the internet. One person noted.
βDon't broadcast when you go to the hospital until a later date. Same goes for when you leave town ... Makes you an easy mark."
On a positive note, Dr. Dre took to his Instagram just hours before the burglary to alert fans that he plans for a quick recovery. He wrote,
"Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes. I'm doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!"
Meanwhile, celebrities and fans alike have flooded social media with well wishes for the music star. Charlie Puth wrote on Twitter,
"You are the reason why I produce music."
A fan of Dr. Dre had similar sentiment,
"Dr. Dre played a significant role in my childhood and influencing me to explore music production.β
Both his management and family have yet to comment on his hospitalization.
