Meet Ashley Biden: America’s New First Daughter

Jan 21 2021
An activist and philanthropist, armed with a master’s degree in social work, 39-year-old Ashley Biden, eldest daughter of president elect, Joe Biden, will most likely be involved in advocating for women’s issues during her father’s term. She’s educated, dedicated to social justice, and fearless in her pursuit of criminal justice reform. Growing up in a household full of ambitious siblings, Ashley was passionate about human and animal rights from a young age. As a grade-schooler, Ashley would set up research projects to talk to her dad about important issues. After graduating with a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Ashley set her sights on criminal justice reform, and worked her way up from an assistant to the director of Delaware Centre for Justice charitable organization. Ashley may be a private person, but she’s neve been afraid to support her father’s campaign. As Ashley explained in her introduction for Joe Biden during the virtual 2020 Democratic National Convention, her father always encouraged her to have her own opinions, and to voice these opinions when she knew something was wrong, an idea that became one of her ‘guiding principles’ in life. While Ashley prefers to work behind the scenes helping foster children and advocating for criminal justice, she isn’t afraid to be the face of a campaign. In 2017 Ashley founded and launched a charitable fashion line, which premiered at New York Fashion Week. Her line of ethically-produced casual clothing, Livelihood Collection, donates ten percent of its proceeds to local charities in Delaware. With all of Ashley’s incredible work in criminal justice, we can’t wait for her to step into the spotlight during her father’s presidency.
