The History And Evolution Of Pink Hair

Pink hair isn’t just for rich men anymore. It’s for everyone and it’s everywhere, on the runway, on every social media platform, on your favorite celebrity and maybe even on your neighbour. Shades range from bright to light. These dyes are readily available and can be styled with any cut. Not feeling adventurous? You can just dye your tips. Especially during quarantine, celebrities are trying out pink hairdos, such as Dua Lipa, Ricky Martin, Anna Camp, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Maddie Ziegler, Elle Fanning, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Hyland and more. Partially due to boredom and using self-isolation to experiment but also due to it’s soothing properties. Pink is a soothing color, something we all need. Pink hair originally was only for rich men, who used pink powder to dye their wigs pink. But wigs fell out of fashion as they were seen as too extravagant. As hair dyes came around, pink hair was eventually tied with femininity, before people started using it as a matter of self-expression and individual style. Almost every celebrity has tried it, Kanye West, the Kardashian-Jenners, Lady Gaga, and more. It’s harder to name one who hasn’t. All your favorite K-poop stars have also had pink hair.
