Britney Spears VMAs Fashion Is Still The Most Iconic Concert Outfit
Mar 07 2021
Britney Spears and the MTV Music Video Awards, name a more iconic duo. Who could forget her 2001 VMAs “I’m A Slave 4 U” performance? History was made that night. The python, the dancing, those vocals, that outfit, everything was perfection. She made the show as it was. Every performance she had was the talk of the town. From her first 1999, “...Baby One More Time” schoolgirl performance to her last performance with G-Eazy, people couldn’t get enough. It’s crazy that she only got her first Moonman in 2008, 7 years after she made history.
It’s rare to have one iconic performance but Britney Spears had multiple. Her medley of Satisfaction and Oops! I Did It Again was already legendary. It set the standard for the genre. But the next year, she went on stage and raised the bar higher. Showing an all grown-up image, “I’m A Slave 4 U” allowed Britney Spears to show the world she truly was the princess of pop. The image of her holding the python was everywhere. No one could talk about anything else. That era belonged to Britney Spears. As an it girl, the media was not kind to her. We all remember her infamous “Gimme More” performance. But the scrutiny led to a trio of successful albums. Britney’s star will never fade.
