The Truth About Where Dr. Pimple Popper Lives
Mar 19 2021
Dr. Sandra Lee — best known as Dr. Pimple Popper — turned her totally addictive YouTube series into a TLC reality hit by banking on just how much fans would want to watch her squeeze stuff out of people's faces. And, as it turns out, fans love it a whole lot.
Lee is a licensed dermatologist in both California and New York, so while she can pop pimples and slay cysts on both coasts, her official clinic, Skin Physicians and Surgeons, is located in sunny Upland , California.
Lee was also raised in Upland, and as Today reported, the skin care specialist now lives with her dermatologist husband and their two sons on a 1.5-acre property not too far from her clinic, in Southern California. There, Lee enjoys her off time, relaxing with her family, cooking some good food, and maybe sipping on a glass of wine.
The front and back yards boast artwork inspired by her practice, as well as custom amenities including a modern fire pit. Inside, an integrated lazy Susan sits on the dining table, paying homage to the reality star's Chinese heritage. Lee's fridge is stocked with healthy snacks and veggies — plus Botox, and other dermatology tools…just in case her friends stop by for a touch-up.
Likewise, Lee keeps surgical gloves at the ready — for cooking. Likening it to performing surgery, in a way, she explained,
"Ground turkey meat is icky on my hands, and this is how I prep my food."
As for what the social media star is binge-watching these days, that would be mukbangs . Yeah. Those insanely addictive YouTube videos of people eating enormous quantities of food. She said,
"It caused me to buy a lot of ramen. I probably have […] ramen to live off of for three years or more!"
If the dermatology business ever goes belly up, Lee imagines she'd like to be a professional chip taster, thanks to her love of salty snacks. Still, these days she's grateful for her success. As she told Entertainment Weekly,
"I just am very proud that [the show] is bringing happiness and joy to some people in the world. We're helping people around the world."
Dr. Pimple Popper enjoys a quiet family life, but she was quick to tell the Chicago Tribune that work talk is never completely off the table. She explained,
"My dad's a dermatologist, my mom's an (operating room) nurse, my husband's a dermatologist. My kids, they're just on their phones or something. They don't listen to us."
Lee added that her eldest will simply head to his bedroom if he's bored with the industry chatter — or a little grossed out by it. She noted,
"He'll see me on my computer editing a video. He will just divert his eyes."
The star explained how she grew up surrounded by dermatology textbooks, thanks to her dad, so she doesn't expect her kids to be totally turned off. The mother of two noted,
"The thing about dermatology is it's more relatable to us because many of us don't really know what a heart looks like or whether it's diseased or healthy, but we definitely know what skin looks like."
Today once again stopped by Dr. Lee's place in 2020, during which time the dermatologist gushed about how their stunning abode is loaded with personal touches — like a massive pool table that invokes the couple's love story. She recalled,
"That's what we'd do: Go to dive bars and play pool. I'd be, like, his little ringer. I called myself the 'mini Black Widow.'"
Likewise, out front, a large clothespin sculpture mirrors Lee's highly profitable business. As the reality star explained,
"I pinch people all the time. Because I do liposuction and I squeeze their skin. So that thing is, like, squeezing the earth."
Elsewhere, acrylic containers are filled with empty Botox bottles, with the doctor noting,
"We collect our Botox [and] we make [it] into art. […] Because, you know, not many people have that many bottles of Botox at home."
Eventually, the couple plans to feature an entire wall made up entirely of Botox bottles.
