In conversation with Variety's Marc Malkin, "Genius: Aretha" star Cynthia Erivo discussed her transformation into the Blue Fairy for Disney's live-action "Pinocchio." Teasing the creative direction of the magical godmother, Erivo also expressed her own excitement at having the chance to portray a Black fairy. She now joins the ranks of other Black actresses stepping into iconic roles of rebooted Disney classics, including Yara Shahidi as Tinkerbell and Halle Bailey as Ariel in 'The Little Mermaid.'
