The Truth About Dr. Pimple Popper's Husband
Apr 07 2021
Sure, Dr. Pimple Popper's zit busting videos might be gross to some, but all those irresistibly satisfying extractions are solid gold for the rest of us. In fact, the dermatologist became so popular for her behind-the-scenes industry take on Instagram and YouTube, that she soon found herself starring on her very own TLC show. She has since earned a massive following, but her online persona often overshadows her personal life.
When she's not transforming her patients' lives, Dr. Sandra Lee enjoys a quieter life at home with her husband, Dr. Jeffrey Rebish, and their two kids in Southern California. Dr. Rebish is also a dermatologist, and the couple met while they were attending medical school in Philadelphia. According to Rebish, it was love at first sight. He told Refinery29,
"Sandra walked into the room on orientation day, and I knew right away that she was the one."
The couple eventually moved to California to take over Lee's father's dermatology practice, and have been running the business together ever since. But even though they're both dermatologists, pimple popping is strictly Lee's domain. And it appears Rebish will never gain an interest in turning Dr. Pimple Popper into a husband-and-wife gig. He explained,
"I handle the administrative side of the practice, while also seeing my own patients. But Sandra handles the cosmetic side of things — Botox and fillers, liposuction and eye lifts, and the more complex surgeries you see on TV. It's not what I like to do, but those more theatrical surgeries have always been her specialty."
But there is at least one thing that Rebish does that Lee would prefer to pass on, though. She told Mashable,
"I definitely have to suppress a little gag when I have to deal with somebody's toes or toenail fungus. My husband is a dermatologist, and he removes toenails — I can't do that, that's too disgusting."
Another reason that Rebish may not want to officially star on the show is because he's not as comfortable in front of an audience as his wife seems to be. And, according to Lee, her hubby's a bit camera shy. She once captioned a pic on Facebook,
"Getting my husband to take a photo with me is like trying to pop out a scarred cyst. Difficult!!"
But while it might seem like the star dermatologist has been famous ever since launching her career, Lee initially kept her pimple-popping buzz under wraps. Rebish explained to Refinery29 that he didn't even realize she was becoming a social media sensation, adding,
"For as long as I can remember, Sandra has been the kind of person who can't sleep through the night. We'll be in bed, and she's up on her phone. […] I thought she was playing video games or something. Come to find out, she was actually posting these videos of her surgeries to YouTube under this alias she created called Dr. Pimple Popper."
It wasn't until Lee had earned a substantial following that she finally let her hubby in on the real story. Rebish recalled,
Things have certainly changed a lot for the celeb couple since Lee's TLC show debuted in 2018, but Rebish continues to support his wife's new career path. He explained that Lee isn't able to dedicate as much time to their dermatology practice these days, but he's happy to fill in where he's needed. He said,
"Ultimately, I'll always be involved any way Sandra needs me to be, because we're a team."
Apparently that even extends to doing some pimple popping of his own, on occasion. Rebish may not enjoy it, but he's performed some gross-out procedures and has been featured on the Dr. Pimple Popper Instagram from time to time. But offering his full support doesn't mean that Rebish actually tunes in to watch the show. He revealed to Refinery29,
"I'd just rather not see that stuff outside of the office."
