Kevin Feige on MCU’s Phase 4 – Part 2: Shang-Chi, Eternals, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever & More
Jul 12 2021
In 2018, in the lead-up to the release of ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ Rotten Tomatoes sat down for an extended interview with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, in which he gave us a complete oral history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first three phases. This month, with the release of ‘Black Widow,’ the studio’s first film in theaters in more than two years – the last being the Phase Three-capping ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ – Feige again sat down with us for an exclusive extended chat, this time to reflect on the end of the Infinity Saga, the studio’s move into streaming limited series, and to preview some of the most anticipated titles coming up in a jam-packed Phase Four, from Chloé Zhao’s ‘Eternals’ to ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’ In this second installment of our interview, Feige talks about the search for the perfect Shang-Chi (and confirms certain rumors about who appears in the movie); gives us a peek into Zhao’s vision for ‘Eternals’; considers the possibility of Venom entering the MCU (he’s not ruling it out); details the “emotional” few months of the Disney-Sony standoff; and shares his excitement about reuniting with ‘Spider-Man’ director Sam Raimi for ‘Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness.’ Plus, Feige reflects on the passing of Chadwick Boseman and the “special” film that writer-director Ryan Coogler has written to honor him.
