Simone Biles Being The GOAT Forces New Olympic Rules

Jul 17 2021
Simone Biles is already one of the all-time greats in women’s gymnastics but she continues to push herself to new heights. However, she’s not getting rewarded for it, score-wise. The five-time Olympic medalist is so dominant that the rules of elite gymnastics intentionally put her at a scoring disadvantage. In an effort to deter other gymnasts from trying skills they are not physically capable of doing, the International Gymnastics Federation watered down the value of a new element Simone Biles plans to do. It really shows she’s in a league of her own. She knows this but she continues to do moves no woman has ever done. Going into the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, she’s been training new moves knowing very well they will be underscored. But she’s not doing it for the points, even being underscored, she is miles ahead of her competition. As her final year in elite competitive women’s gymnastics, Simone Biles is pushing herself because she can. She’s doing it for herself. Straight out of quarantine, Simone has wasted no time proving that she's still at the top of her game. The Olympic gymnast posted a video of herself debuting a new move: a triple-double dismount off of a balance beam.
