Pop Star Aryana Sayeed Was Asked To Save Baby While Escaping Afghanistan

As Afghan citizens continue to desperately flee their beloved homeland, Access Hollywood shares the story of one of the country's most famous pop stars who barely got out in time. Aryana Sayeed is well known for her music career, as well as having been a judge on Afghanistan's "The Voice." As a woman who embraces Western culture and advocates for women's rights, she has long been a target for the Taliban. Aryana tells Access' Zuri Hall all about her harrowing escape with her fiancé. She also reveals that as she was fleeing, a woman asked her to save her baby. "The baby was screaming and I was like, 'Oh my God, this baby is going to die any minute now,'" she said, later adding that she didn't want to separate the mother and child. "If I take the baby and her mother cannot make it – What's gonna happen then? I cannot separate a baby from the mother, and the mother actually wanted me to take the baby… but then I couldn’t – the soldiers asked me if this was my baby and I said, 'Look, it's not mine, but could you please let her in, because the baby is gonna die,' and they said, 'I'm sorry madam we cannot do that,'" she shared, adding that ultimately she does not know what became of the mother and child. Tune in to Access Hollywood on Aug. 24 for Part 2 of our interview with Aryana, where she details the threats she received from Taliban leaders.
