Why Hannah Waddingham Almost Passed On ‘Ted Lasso’ Role

Sep 20 2021
Access Hollywood’s Zuri Hall spoke to Hannah Waddingham who won the first Emmy award of the evening for her role in “Ted Lasso.” The actress shared why she also didn’t move forward with the audition during the initial casting of the hit Apple TV+ show due to her daughter’s illness. “I said to my rep both here in London, I can’t have that moment where I can’t get back to my girl, so I said if it’s something close to home then fine.” Adding, “I came over here and I said to Jason when we’d been hanging for a while, ‘Where are you going to shoot this?’ And he said, ‘Uhh, Richmond.’ She continued, “Richmond, like half an hour from my house? I thought I’m going to rugby tackle anyone to the ground if they think they’re having this part over me.”
