IN 2014, Reshma, then 17, was on her way to a school exam when someone poured acid on her face - changing her life forever. She said, "I thought to myself, how everything can just change in one second." The attack was a case of mistaken identity, as the assaulters - her brother-in-law and two accomplices - were aiming for her sister. Reshma was left with severe scarring on her face and neck, and lost an eye. The injuries affected her confidence and left her feeling very self-conscious. "I thought, my face is ruined," she explained. But over the years, Reshma slowly began to embrace her scars and rebuild her life. She released a book about her journey and began modelling - even walking down the runway at New York Fashion Week. Reflecting on everything she’s been through, Reshma explained, "Beauty to me is not just the face. What’s more important is to have a beautiful heart and a beautiful mind."
