Dodgy construction companies building unliveable brand new homes | 60 Minutes Australia
May 07 2023
At precisely the time Australia needs a robust construction industry to build desperately needed housing, in Victoria a major crisis is unfolding. There the building regulator, a vital arm of the Andrews state government, seems to have given up on doing its job. It’s called the Victorian Building Authority, or VBA, and it’s supposed to protect consumers from dodgy construction companies and tradespeople.
On assignment for 60 MINUTES, The TODAY Show’s Christine Ahern reports how the VBA’s inaction is a hammer blow for people trying to build a roof over their heads.
For over forty years, 60 Minutes have been telling Australians the world’s greatest stories. Tales that changed history, our nation and our lives. Reporters Liz Hayes, Tom Steinfort, Tara Brown, Nick McKenzie and Amelia Adams look past the headlines because there is always a bigger picture. Sundays are for 60 Minutes.
