Deadly mushrooms: Everything you need to know | Under Investigation

Aug 26 2023
Botanist and mycologist Professor Brett Summerell has spent 35 years studying deadly fungi like the death cap mushroom. When five people gathered for a special Saturday lunch, within days, three were dead and a fourth is fighting for his life. Their symptoms suggest poison by the deadly death cap mushroom. The meal they had eaten was beef Wellington - a dish consisting of a beef filet coated with a paste of mushrooms and other ingredients, then wrapped in pastry. Professor Summerell told Under Investigation it takes just a small chunk of mushroom about the size of a 20 cent piece to cause massive problems.
