It was a crash that never should have happened. Melissa Oates was drunk when she got behind the wheel. Then, speeding down the road, her car hit and killed her boyfriend, Jari Wise. But remarkably, Oates claimed the collision wasn’t her fault because he jumped out in front of her.
As Tom Steinfort first reported last year, Jari’s mother, Faith Tkalac, has always disputed that story, and has been pushing for a coronial inquiry. Now her persistence has paid off.
For over forty years, 60 Minutes have been telling Australians the world’s greatest stories. Tales that changed history, our nation and our lives. Reporters Liz Hayes, Tom Steinfort, Tara Brown, Nick McKenzie and Amelia Adams look past the headlines because there is always a bigger picture. Sundays are for 60 Minutes.
