Ryan Gosling's Explicit Scene Causes Controversy

Ryan Gosling has revealed that he faced backlash for his explicit sex scene with Michelle Williams in the film Blue Valentine. The scene, which depicted a realistic oral sex moment, caused the film to be embroiled in a classification battle in the UK.

Gosling explained that the reason it appeared so authentic was because he and Williams did a "good job" during filming. He argued that they should not be penalized for their commitment to their roles.

Gosling described the film as an "anti-romance" and praised director Derek Cianfrance for wanting to portray the flaws and realities of relationships.

The film's rating was eventually changed to an R, indicating that anyone under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Parents are advised to gather more information about the film before taking their young children, as it contains some adult material.

Despite its high rating, Blue Valentine received numerous award nominations following its release in 2010. Ryan and Michelle were both nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes.

Cindy and Dean, the main characters in Blue Valentine, struggle to maintain their troubled marriage while juggling the responsibilities of raising their daughter and rekindling their lost connection.

The script for the film was initially given to Williams in 2002, but it took four more years for Gosling to commit to the role.

Unfortunately, due to insufficient funding, filming didn't commence until 2009.

Michelle's ex-partner, Heather Ledger, had passed away a year before filming began. To ensure the well-being of their daughter Matilda, the director decided to shoot the film close to Brooklyn.

During the filming process, Ryan and Michelle took the liberty to improvise certain parts of the script, including the scene where their characters explore New York City.

Additionally, Ryan took on the task of writing and performing some of the film's songs.
