Britain's ugliest mutt, Peggy, has been cast in the new Deadpool film as Dogpool, Wade Wilson's four-legged friend. The unsightly furball, believed to be a pug and Chinese crested cross, won the ugliest dog accolade last year.
Peggy belongs to Holly Middleton from Leven in East Yorkshire, who was thrilled when her beastly mongrel was recruited for the Deadpool & Wolverine movie. Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, expressed his love for Dogpool, stating that she feels like the animal manifestation of Wade Wilson.
Peggy, who has almost 75,000 Instagram followers, finished filming at the end of January and celebrated with a nap. Photos taken during shooting in the south of England show the pug cross dressed in her costume with Ryan and Holly.
A trailer for the Marvel movie also shows Dogpool giving Deadpool a slobbery kiss as Wolverine looks on in disgust. Last year, Holly mentioned that some people find Peggy's unusual appearance strange, but they believe she is beautiful both inside and out.
Movie producers relocated filming to the UK so Reynolds could manage his commitments to his team Wrexham FC. In the third film, Deadpool will use Cable's time travel machine to save Wolverine before his death in 2029, leading to an adventure in the Multiverse. The Crown's Emma Corrin and Jennifer Garner are also set to star in the film, set for release on July 26.
