Sarah Wayne Callies Opens Up About Facing Misogyny on the Set of 'Prison Break'
Actress Sarah Wayne Callies recently shared her experiences of facing misogyny while filming the popular TV series "Prison Break." During an appearance on the "Broad Ideas" podcast, Callies revealed that she had to deal with challenges as the only woman on set.
Reflecting on her time on the show, Callies mentioned a disturbing incident where a male colleague allegedly spat in her face. She expressed her shock at the behavior and promised to discuss the incident in more detail on her "Prison Breaking" podcast with former co-star Paul Adelstein.
Despite the difficulties she faced, Callies acknowledged that there were some male co-stars who were supportive and respectful. However, she also hinted at the chaos that often ensued due to the newfound fame of the actors on the show.
While Callies did not name the actor involved in the incident, she admitted that revisiting the show initially brought up feelings of regret and questioning what she had endured during that time.
Despite the challenges, Callies mentioned that she formed lasting friendships with some of her colleagues on set. She also highlighted the missed opportunity of not having scenes with other female characters on the show.
Known for her role as Sara Tancredi on "Prison Break," Callies briefly reprised her character in a revival season in 2016.
