Aubrey O’Day Opens Up About Abuse and Vindication
Aubrey O’Day recently spoke out about her feelings regarding the release of a surveillance video showing her former boss, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, physically abusing Cassie. Despite the disturbing footage, O’Day expressed that she feels no sense of vindication in the situation.
During the Gurus Magazine launch party celebrating #30VOICES30DAYS, O’Day shared, “There’s no vindication for anyone to have. Sadly, if you’re a victim of anyone at any point in life, this will ring true to you: There’s no such thing as vindication. It never goes away. It’s never better.”
She continued, “And even when people are exposed, it doesn’t take away the experience. I suppose [being vindicated] gives you more credibility. But if you believe in yourself, anyone else’s belief in you doesn’t really matter much anyway. So, no, I don’t feel that.”
As a former artist signed to Combs’ Bad Boy Records, O’Day has been vocal about her negative experiences with the music mogul. She believes that the recently released surveillance video is just the tip of the iceberg.
“Did you watch the video that was released?” she questioned. “How many more of those do you think there are? Do you think that was the first time that that happened or the first person?”
O’Day, who has been critical of Combs in the past, took to social media to address the video showing him physically assaulting Cassie. She expressed concern for abuse survivors and urged prayers for all victims of such behavior.
She also criticized Combs’ apology video, pointing out that he did not directly apologize to Cassie but rather to the public for witnessing his actions. O’Day highlighted the discrepancy between his words and his actions, emphasizing the need for accountability.
In a shocking turn of events, Cassie filed a lawsuit against Combs, accusing him of rape and physical abuse during their decade-long relationship. The two parties reached a settlement shortly after the lawsuit was filed.
Currently, Combs is facing multiple lawsuits alleging various forms of misconduct, which he vehemently denies. The rapper’s legal battles have shed light on the prevalence of abuse and misconduct in the entertainment industry.
