Taylor Swift's Epic Edinburgh Concerts: Fans Cause Seismic Activity with Their Energy!
Taylor Swift brought her electrifying energy to Edinburgh last weekend, where her fans took their excitement to seismic levels, quite literally!
The Swifties at her Eras Tour show at Murrayfield Stadium last Friday danced with such fervor that they triggered seismic activity, felt from 6 km away, as reported by the British Geological Survey (BGS).
The Friday night concert was described as the most energetic of the weekend, registering 23.4 nanometres (nm) of movement. Saturday and Sunday's shows weren't far behind, with 22.8 nm and 23.3 nm, respectively.
The British Geological Survey noted that songs like "...Ready For It?," "Cruel Summer," and "Champagne Problems" were the top seismic generators each night, with honorable mentions to hits like "Shake It Off," "But Daddy I Love Him," and "Getaway Car."
During Friday's performance, "...Ready For It?" alone generated 160 beats per minute of activity, equivalent to approximately 80 kW of power, akin to 10-16 car batteries, according to BGS.
Despite the seismic impact, the vibrations were likely only felt by those in the immediate vicinity of the stadium.
Taylor Swift expressed her awe and gratitude to her Edinburgh fans, breaking attendance records with a minimum of 73,000 people at each show, making them the most-attended concerts in Scottish history.
Swift's concerts in Seattle in July 2023 also caused seismic activity, equivalent to a 2.3 magnitude earthquake, showcasing the immense energy and passion of her fanbase.
Continuing her tour, Swift recently performed in Liverpool, marking her 100th Eras Tour show and confirming the tour's conclusion in December after three final shows in Vancouver.
Reflecting on the tour, Swift described it as the most exhausting yet joyful experience of her career, emphasizing the incredible connection with her fans that made it all worthwhile.
Since kicking off the Eras Tour in March 2023, Swift has released re-recordings of her albums "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" and "1989 (Taylor's Version)," along with her 11th studio album, "The Tortured Poets Department."
As she nears the end of this monumental tour, Swift's impact on her fans and the seismic activity she generates with her performances continue to solidify her status as a global music icon.
