Selena Gomez Surprises High School Volleyball Team with National Anthem Performance

Selena Gomez, the talented actress and singer, recently made a surprise appearance at Telluride High School in Colorado to support a local volleyball team. The students had publicly expressed their desire for Gomez to attend, specifically asking her to perform the national anthem during their games.

During her visit to Telluride High School over the weekend, where she was promoting her movie "Emilia Pérez," Gomez was greeted by a bright orange sign from the students, suggesting two potential times for her performance between Aug. 30 and Aug. 31.

"They asked!! Couldn’t help it, it’s my first time in Telluride!" Gomez shared on her social media, showcasing her excitement to fulfill the students' request.

The Emmy award-nominee surprised the teenage athletes playing volleyball in the gym, with fans in the stands rushing onto the floor to greet her. In a heartwarming moment captured on video, Gomez expressed, "I saw the sign and so I had to come," to the shocked team.

Gomez graciously posed for pictures with the team, signing autographs and even playfully signing a forehead, creating lasting memories for the students in the small Colorado town nestled in the Rocky Mountains.

Currently, Gomez is attending the Telluride Film Festival for a screening of Jacques Audiard’s new film "Emilia Pérez," where she stars alongside Zoe Saldaña. The movie, filmed in Spanish, is a blend of comedy, drama, and musical elements, receiving an 11-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Commenting on Gomez's post, Saldaña praised her co-star, calling her "the kindest heart indeed." Additionally, Gomez's record producer boyfriend, Benny Blanco, showed his support with three heart emojis.

Rumors of engagement between Gomez and Blanco have been circulating, fueled by sightings of a gold band on her ring finger. Speculation heightened after reports suggested Blanco had proposed to Gomez at a beach house surrounded by friends.
