Andy Cohen and Ryan Seacrest Call Truce on New Year's Eve Feud - What Sparked the Drama?
2025 is already shaping up to be a promising year for the dynamic duo of Andy Cohen and Ryan Seacrest. The TV personalities have officially put an end to their New Year's Eve beef after a series of public snubs during their holiday specials on rival programs.
The turning point came during Seacrest's appearance on Tuesday's episode of Cohen's late-night talk show, "Watch What Happens Live." A viewer dared to broach the subject, asking the men if they could set aside their feud and start fresh in 2025.
"I can't even remember what the feud was about," confessed Cohen, 56, with Seacrest, 49, echoing his sentiment, unable to recall the initial spark that ignited their discord.
"But we did exchange waves this year. We did acknowledge each other during our live broadcasts from Times Square on December 31, 2023," Cohen added, reflecting on their recent encounter.
Seacrest chimed in, assuring viewers that he and Cohen have already hashed out their plans for the upcoming New Year's Eve celebrations and have agreed to be on friendly terms this time around.
"We'll definitely exchange waves! We might not be able to hug just yet, but everything's all good," Seacrest shared with a smile.
"The beef is officially squashed!"
The clash between Cohen and Seacrest dates back to their live New Year's Eve broadcasts in New York City in 2021 and 2022. The first jab was thrown by Cohen when he labeled Seacrest and ABC's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" as a "bunch of losers" on December 31, 2021.
"Ryan Seacrest's crew of underachievers performing behind us. I mean, let's be real, if you've been tuning in to ABC tonight, you've seen zilch. My apologies," Cohen remarked on CNN's "New Year's Eve Live."
Shortly after, Cohen expressed regret, attributing his remarks to being "silly, intoxicated, and caught up in the moment."
Seacrest remained silent at the time but reignited the feud the following year, claiming he waved at Cohen and co-host Anderson Cooper, receiving no acknowledgment from Cohen.
"I thought maybe I was in the shot. I just wanted to wave and say 'hi,'" Seacrest explained on the January 3, 2023 episode of "Live With Ryan and Kelly."
"They put on a great show. Anderson is fantastic. He turned around and greeted us. Very gracious. Andy, on the other hand, didn't acknowledge me."
Cohen fired back on his "Radio Andy" show, expressing confusion over Seacrest's grievances and asserting that he was unaware of any issues during the broadcast.
"I didn't see Anderson turn around to wave," Cohen clarified. "Typically, if he's waving at Ryan, he'll mention it to me, and then I'll turn around and wave. But that didn't happen."
With their recent reconciliation and mutual agreement to let bygones be bygones, fans can look forward to a harmonious New Year's Eve celebration with both Cohen and Seacrest on their screens. Here's to a drama-free countdown!
