Why Niecy Nash Calls Travis Kelce "Greedy" on Set of "Grotesquerie"
Niecy Nash-Betts, the Emmy-winning actress, didn't hold back when teasing Travis Kelce about his appetite on the set of their latest project, "Grotesquerie." In an interview with ETalk shared on TikTok, Nash-Betts, 54, jokingly labeled the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 34, as "greedy" when it came to indulging in food during filming.
"We were eating anything and everything. Travis is greedy," she quipped. "From burgers to pasta, you name it. The only one of us who ever opted for a salad was me."
Despite the playful banter about Kelce's eating habits, Nash-Betts recently showered praise on her co-star, describing him as a "dream" to work with. Speaking to People earlier in the week, she highlighted Kelce's charm and dedication to his craft.
"He is so charming but comes to work prepared," Nash-Betts shared. "He's open to learning, and I believe his fans will be pleasantly surprised."
"Grotesquerie" revolves around a detective portrayed by Nash-Betts and a nun played by Micaela Diamond teaming up to solve a series of gruesome murders. While Kelce's character's role in the plot remains undisclosed, it is known that his appearance in the series is limited.
Although this marks Kelce's first serious acting endeavor, it is not his initial foray into the world of entertainment. The football star made his acting debut as a host on "Saturday Night Live" in March 2023 and later made a cameo appearance during the season 49 premiere alongside his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
Reflecting on Kelce's potential in the acting realm, Nash-Betts suggested that he may have "caught the bug" for performing. Kelce himself expressed interest in exploring various opportunities, stating that he is willing to "dabble into everything" to gauge his enjoyment.
"I know there’s definitely Hollywood talks out there, but I’ve been focused on football throughout the season, so I’ll probably have a lot of those meetings and conversations when it is all said and done," Kelce remarked during a previous interview.
Despite missing the New York City premiere of "Grotesquerie," Kelce received support from his mother, Donna Kelce, who attended the event and commended her son's willingness to venture into new experiences.
"Oh, it’s so awesome," Donna Kelce expressed to Page Six. "Just to see your kids do what they absolutely love, and hopefully this is something he likes! I know he wanted to try [acting], so we’ll see how it goes."
