Guests at Hotel Report Hearing 'Screams, Violent Noises, and Banging' from Liam Payne's Room
Guests staying at a hotel in Buenos Aires were startled by what they described as "loud violent noises" before the unfortunate death of pop sensation Liam Payne. The 31-year-old singer, known for hits like 'Strip That Down,' was on a trip to Argentina with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, to attend a live performance by his former bandmate, Niall Horan. However, the trip took a devastating turn when Payne fell from a third-floor balcony at Casa Sur Hotel, plummeting a shocking 14 meters into the hotel's inner courtyard on the evening of 16th September.
Prior to the tragic incident, reports emerged of a disturbance in Payne's hotel room, with claims of an intoxicated guest causing chaos by vandalizing the space. Concerns escalated when BBC received an account from a fellow guest, Doug Jones, who recalled, "I thought they were working on the room. There was a lot of noise, like heavy lifting, like banging. A lot of loud, violent noises, I thought."
Jones further mentioned observing hotel staff entering and exiting Payne's room, assuming maintenance work was being carried out. However, the situation intensified as Jones continued, "So about 4 pm, 4.30 pm, I started hearing some more noise, I was still doing work. I heard a really loud, violent scream around 4.45 pm, 5 pm," as reported by the Mirror.
Shortly before 5 pm, law enforcement responded to the escalating situation, only to be met with a deafening crash reverberating from the courtyard. Moments later, a shocked tourist noticed a flurry of police activity, signaling the unfolding tragedy.
Providing insights into the aftermath, the local ambulance chief disclosed to TN, "At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted to a person who had fallen in an internal courtyard of Casa Sur Hotel." He elaborated, "There is an internal courtyard where the victim fell, with tables and chairs: the hotel's confectionery shop operates there. The space has a retractable roof that was open at the time. Fortunately, there were no other people present in the area."
