Canada has its ‘nuclear option’ in trade war - calls for Pornhub ban in the US
In a surprising twist in the ongoing trade war with the United States, some Canadians are proposing a rather unconventional strategy: blocking U.S. access to Pornhub, the popular adult website owned by a Canadian company.
This idea comes from comedian Matthew Puzhitsky, who recently shared a viral Instagram video where he dubbed this potential ban as Canada’s “nuclear weapon” in the trade dispute. With Pornhub racking up over 3 million views a month in the U.S., Puzhitsky believes that cutting off access could effectively end the trade war.
“If Canada could ban Pornhub in the states, we win the trade war. That’s it. There is no trade war,” he stated, emphasizing the power of this drastic measure. Following his video, a petition was launched, calling on Canadian authorities to consider this “peaceful yet powerful” response to the escalating tensions. However, the petition has only garnered a handful of signatures so far.
Marc Olimpo, a Toronto resident, expressed optimism that more Canadians will rally behind the idea as the trade war heats up. “That’s all anyone is talking about,” he remarked, highlighting the growing frustration among Canadians regarding the trade situation.

Meanwhile, reactions from New Yorkers have been mixed, with many expressing shock at the thought of losing access to Pornhub. The site’s parent company, Montreal-based Aylo, operates several popular adult platforms, making this potential ban a significant concern for many users. One Manhattan resident even declared, “If they take away my access to Pornhub, I’m moving out of the U.S.!”
Another user questioned, “Canadians wouldn’t do that to us… would they? I thought they were supposed to be nice.” This sentiment reflects the general disbelief that such a drastic action could be taken. One concerned individual cautioned against hasty decisions, noting that trade talks are still ongoing. “Let’s not be hasty, Canada!” he urged.
