The Scheana Shay and Lisa Vanderpump Drama: What’s Really Going On?
So, Vanderpump Rules is getting a major facelift, and honestly, it’s left a lot of fans scratching their heads about the whole Scheana Shay and Lisa Vanderpump feud. But let’s be real, this tension didn’t just pop up overnight; it’s been brewing for a while now.
To give you a little background, Vanderpump Rules kicked off as a spinoff of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where Lisa was a mainstay from 2010 to 2019. Scheana, on the other hand, was one of the original cast members of Vanderpump Rules, making her debut back in 2013 when she spilled the tea about her affair with Eddie Cibrian on an episode of RHOBH. Talk about a dramatic entrance!

Fast forward to now, and the show is in a bit of a pickle. The whole Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss situation has left fans divided, and it’s clear that the future of the franchise is up in the air. In November 2024, the network announced that Vanderpump Rules would be returning, but with a completely new cast. Yikes!
At first, it seemed like the drama was all about the cast, with Lisa just watching from the sidelines. But things took a turn when Scheana was asked about her relationship with Lisa during an April 2025 episode of the “Two T’s With a Pod” podcast. She didn’t hold back, saying, “I don’t talk to her too often. She usually calls when she needs something.” Ouch!

She went on to explain that their last chat was strictly business-related. “That was recent when I talked to her,” Scheana said. “She had a question about a friend of mine on another show of hers, and that was pretty much it.” So, it sounds like their friendship has turned into more of a business arrangement, which is kinda sad.
Lisa, for her part, didn’t seem too bothered by the lack of communication. She mentioned that she doesn’t keep in touch with every Vanderpump Rules cast member. “I haven’t spoken to Scheana but she almost grew up with me. She was at Villa Blanca for quite a few years. They’re all doing OK and I think Scheana is doing OK,” she told Us Weekly. “Thankfully she’s got somebody loyal by her side [husband Brock Davies] because she had a hell of a roller coaster with different relationships.”
Now, while it might look like the rift is all about the Vanderpump Rules shakeup, there’s a chance that Scheana’s upcoming memoir, titled My Good Side, could be the real source of the drama. So, let’s break down the timeline of events and see what’s really going on.

Before the cameras started rolling on Vanderpump Rules, Scheana was working for Lisa at Villa Blanca. She later transitioned to SUR, which was a big deal on the show, especially since Lisa found herself caught in the middle of Scheana and her then-friend Brandi Glanville. Over the years, Scheana and Lisa maintained a close relationship, with Lisa supporting Scheana through various personal struggles.
After season 11 wrapped in 2024, it seemed like everything was cool between them. Lisa even made a heartfelt statement about the future of Vanderpump Rules, saying, “The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears and everything in between. I can’t thank enough those who have shared their lives. How I love you all. In the restaurant business, one shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules.”
But then, in January 2025, Scheana dropped the bombshell that she was releasing her memoir. The official synopsis reads, “After appearing on shows like 90210, Jonas, and Victorious, Vanderpump Rules would be a piece of cake. But from the very first season, Scheana clashed with her fellow cast members. Barbs were thrown, friendships dissolved, and Scheana was left in the rubble trying to navigate the complexities of having her life and relationships filmed for a television audience.” Sounds juicy, right?

My Good Side is set to peel back the layers of who Scheana really is, sharing the good, the bad, and the messy. The book promises to take readers on a nostalgia trip through the early days of Vanderpump Rules, while also recounting some jaw-dropping stories from her Hollywood black book, including setting the record straight on her relationship with Eddie Cibrian. It’s like a tell-all, and you know that’s gonna stir the pot!
When Lisa was asked about whether Scheana’s book spills any tea on her during an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she didn’t hold back. “About me? Oh, good lord,” Lisa said. “Well, that is probably just to sell the book, because she doesn’t have anything else to say.” Ouch again!
Lisa also called out some specific digs Scheana has made about her, saying, “I have heard she said something nasty that I only call her when I need something. True that. I have 600 people that work for me. I think the last time I needed her is when I invited her to my house for [my grandson] Teddy’s birthday. So that is the last time I called her.”

It’s worth noting that Scheana isn’t the only Vanderpump Rules star to release a memoir, but she’s the first to have a fallout with Lisa before her book even hit the shelves. Stassi Schroeder released her first book, Next Level Basic, in 2019, and after her exit from Vanderpump Rules in 2020, she wrote a second book titled Off With My Head, followed by You Can’t Have It All: The Basic B*tch Guide to Taking the Pressure Off. Lala Kent also released her book, Give Them Lala, and Kristen Doute wrote He’s Making You Crazy: How to Get the Guy, Get Even, and Get Over It.
It’s also interesting to note that Scheana was once considered one of Lisa’s most loyal supporters. After she announced her memoir, Kristen Doute chimed in, suggesting that Lisa might not be too happy about what’s coming. “Look at all the girls coming out now that have been waiting to not be on any show with [Vanderpump]. Scheana, Katie [Maloney],” Kristen said on an April 2025 episode of “The Bitch Bible” podcast. “When Scheana’s book comes out, she told me that there’s a lot of tea about Lisa in there that the world would like to know about. So I think she’s now on the bottom — she’s like the s*** on the bottom of Lisa’s shoe now.”
My Good Side is set to hit the shelves on July 22, 2025, and you can bet that Us Weekly will be covering all the highlights. Scheana addressed Lisa’s reaction on her own podcast, “Scheananigans,” in May 2025, saying, “It was a little hurtful. I used to be your go-to girl.”

She confirmed that Lisa is indeed mentioned in her book, saying, “What I said to Kristen is there are things that I’ve never felt comfortable talking about that I open up about in the book. Because I’ve always been very loyal to Lisa — very much. I was her right hand for a long time. There were a lot of situations that I’ve been put in — phone calls that were made — and things that just kind of shaped a big part of my life that I do discuss in the book.”
According to Scheana, Lisa might not be thrilled with everything that’s written in My Good Side. “It’s something that I never felt comfortable sharing. It’s honestly a huge reason why I wanted to wait until Vanderpump Rules was done to write a book,” she explained. “I feel that that relationship has been strained for years. A big thing was in 2020 when I suffered a miscarriage and everyone else was reaching out, I didn’t hear from her at all.”
She added, “I’m sure there’s going to be things in there she’s not too happy about. But it is my truth. It’s my story.”
