Mother Begged Son to Allow Her to 'Finish' 6-Year-Old Daughter After Striking Her Head with Hammer: Police
Zeinab Abdi, 40, has been charged with attempted murder following a horrific incident involving her 6-year-old daughter in Kentucky. The Louisville Metro Police Department reported that the young girl is currently in critical condition after allegedly being struck in the head with a hammer.
On June 19, police responded to a distress call at a residence on Wilson Avenue, where they discovered the child suffering from multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds. Officers arrived shortly after noon and immediately arranged for the girl to be transported to a local hospital.

As the investigation unfolded, the severity of the girl's injuries prompted the homicide unit to take over the case. They interviewed the victim's brother, who witnessed the attack. According to police documents, he recounted that during a struggle to restrain their mother, she reportedly said, "let me finish her," indicating her intent to return to the injured child.
Abdi later agreed to speak with law enforcement after being read her Miranda rights. She allegedly admitted to experiencing extreme anger and difficulty controlling her emotions. The arrest slip indicates that she confessed to striking her daughter in the head with a hammer multiple times.
Currently held at Louisville Metro Corrections, Abdi's bail has been set at $500,000 following her arraignment. She is scheduled to appear in court again on June 30 for a preliminary hearing. As of now, she does not have legal representation.
