Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino Call It Quits: Inside Their Split After Nearly Seven Years

Mar 31 2025

Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino have officially parted ways after calling off their wedding earlier this month, marking the end of a nearly seven-year relationship.

A source close to Sweeney shared with People that she is currently in a great place, stating, “She’s exactly where she wants to be. Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She’s all about working right now and very excited about all her projects.”

However, the source also revealed that the actress felt overwhelmed by her relationship and the impending wedding, saying, “She didn’t feel right about it.” The insider emphasized that Sweeney is in the midst of a flourishing career and wants to keep her focus on her professional endeavors.

“She’s not ready to settle down,” the source claimed. “They only lasted for this long because it was hard for her to break it off. They didn’t split because there is no love. They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now.”

While a representative for Sweeney did not respond to requests for comment, reports have surfaced indicating that the couple had been facing “major issues” in their relationship prior to the wedding cancellation.

It was noted that their wedding, originally scheduled for the spring, was postponed due to Sweeney’s busy schedule, which left her feeling “extremely busy” and unable to handle the stress of planning a wedding.

“Things are also always tense between them when she is promoting a movie because she has to give her full attention to the project, and people always speculate about their relationship and Sydney being close to her co-stars,” the source explained.

The couple, who got engaged in 2022 after first being linked in the fall of 2018, were last seen together on January 20 when Sweeney took a break from filming the “Housemaid,” one of her many upcoming projects.

However, breakup rumors began to circulate last month when TMZ reported that Sweeney had postponed her wedding to Davino, who is 41 years old. The couple was supposed to tie the knot in May, but the wedding has been put on hold indefinitely.

By March 11, it was revealed that Sweeney was staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel instead of one of her two properties in Los Angeles. She reportedly checked into the luxurious hotel in mid-February, but sources indicated that Davino did not join her.

Instead, the actress was frequently spotted enjoying time with friends at the hotel’s famous Polo Lounge, pool, and bar. Adding to the speculation, Sweeney traveled solo to Paris for Miu Miu’s fall 2025 fashion show, further fueling rumors about her relationship status.

Throughout 2023, Sweeney and Davino’s relationship became a hot topic, especially due to her undeniable chemistry with “Anyone But You” co-star Glen Powell. Both Sweeney and Powell later admitted that they leaned into the rumors to promote their rom-com, but the speculation intensified when they were seen together at his sister’s wedding in Dallas, Texas.

Despite the recent chatter, Sweeney and Davino have always faced breakup rumors due to the private nature of their relationship. The Chicago-based producer rarely attended public events with Sweeney, and they seldom stepped out together.

Moreover, Sweeney hardly ever wore her engagement ring and often avoided discussing their relationship in interviews, previously stating it was “important to have something for [herself].” This decision to maintain a low profile often led to unfounded split speculation.

As Sweeney continues to promote her upcoming projects, including the thriller “Housemaid,” based on Freida McFadden’s best-selling book, fans are left wondering what the future holds for the actress and her career. The film is currently in post-production, which means another potentially headline-making press tour may be on the horizon.
