The Art Deco Glamour of Shanghai

Contemporary Shanghai is celebrated for its futuristic skyline, but nestled between shiny towers, you’ll find one of the world’s richest collections of Art Deco buildings. The architectural style, which had its heyday in the 1930s, epitomized luxury and employed geometric forms, linear shapes and narrow windows. Not to be missed are the Grand Theatre and the Paramount, once bastions of Shanghai glitz and glam.
