Ginnifer Goodwin's Abrupt Rise And Fall From Hollywood
Nov 13 2019
Ginnifer Goodwin became a household name thanks to her unforgettable role as Snow White in the TV show Once Upon a Time. But in 2017, she decided to leave the show, and seemingly vanished overnight. Now she's back, but fans are still wondering: what happened?

Ginnifer Goodwin met her future husband, Joshua Dallas, while filming the pilot for Once Upon a Time in early 2011. Dallas was married to actress Lara Pulver at the time, while Goodwin announced that she'd broke off her engagement to actor Joey Kern in May 2011.

A source told E! News that the co-stars had a, quote, "immediate connection when they met" but stayed just friends since one of them was married. It reportedly wasn't until Dallas and Pulver separated in the fall of 2011 that Goodwin and Dallas' relationship turned romantic.

But Dallas told People in April 2012 that it was love at first sight:

"It hit me like a blinding light. I thought, 'I'm in trouble now.'"

Considering Goodwin and Dallas played star-crossed lovers Snow White and Prince Charming in Once Upon a Time, their real-life wedding on April 12, 2014, was more than a little heartwarming. It was also a bit of a rushed affair, as Goodwin was already pregnant with their first child. Goodwin revealed in an interview on Live! with Kelly & Michael in March 2015:

"We thought of ourselves as exceptionally modern and we were like, 'We don't need to get married, we'll get married later.' And then I was nine months pregnant and I was like, 'We totally need to get married.'"

Their first child, Oliver Finlay, was born in May 2014, and two years later, in June 2016, they welcomed a second son, Hugo Wilson Dallas. But the strain of raising two infants while working together on a major network hit became a bit overwhelming, leading to the couple quitting the show in 2017. Goodwin told Entertainment Weekly that the decision

"...involved a lot of discussing child rearing with our showrunners, because we really wanted to be spending more time with the kids."

So it may be that Goodwin's departure from Hollywood was entirely her own choice! But she has no regrets. Goodwin told Entertainment Weekly:

"Over the run of this show, I met Prince Charming, fell in love, got married, and had two babies. It doesn't get better than that."
