Two teenage girls will be charged with the murder and torture of Cian English, 19, who fell to his death from a Gold Coast apartment.

Mr English's body was found at the bottom of the View Pacific Resort in Surfers Paradise just after 3:00am on Saturday May 23.

Police said he had been staying at the hotel with friends and partying in the fourth-storey unit when another group of people, who were staying in the unit above and not known to them, visited their room.

It is believed they were partying together and a number of people took prescription drugs that had allegedly been stolen from chemists.

Police will allege that during the evening the other group of people produced a knife and robbed Mr English and his friend, in an attack lasting about half an hour.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said Mr English was trying to escape off the balcony and fell to his death.

He said Mr English was found with injuries to his chin and arm, allegedly inflicted by a knife.

Two girls, aged 15 and 16 from Coomera on the Gold Coast, were arrested this morning to be charged with murder, armed robbery, deprivation of liberty, torture and stealing.

Three men, aged 18, 20 and 22, were charged two days after the incident with one count of murder, armed robbery and deprivation of liberty.
