The Truth About Being In Blackpink

It's Not All Glitz And Glamour Being In A K-Pop Group

The members of the K-Pop sensation girl band known as Blackpink have to work crazy hard to stay on top of the charts - and the negative media. Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa have all trained for years as dancers and singers, building their career together for the past four years. Even though the girls have different backgrounds, they work together seamlessly on stage and in recording.

Blackpink is climbing the international charts, branching their fan base outside of Korea to Europe and North America. In order to keep up the appearance of perfection, Blackpink members stick to super strict routines when it comes to diet, workout, and maintaining a “good girl” image. Their label, YG, prohibits the girls from partaking in normal twenty-something behaviour like drinking, partying, driving, smoking, and even dating. While on tour, Blackpink girls are not even allowed to speak to boys!

There is a lot of pressure from fans, their label, and the media for the Blackpink performers to be perfect. Even small mistakes like driving without a seatbelt has caused the girls to be slammed by the press. Lisa has been accused of being too thin and has also faced backlash for her ethnicity. The girls were also criticised in the American media for their sub-par dance moves when appearing on American talk shows to promote their tour. Even though they train constantly and workout out non-stop, everybody makes mistakes!

Despite the intense pressure and difficulties, Blackpink is climbing the charts and gaining more and more success. Their single Kill this Love was a major hit and their upcoming work has fans excited to see what the K-Pop girls will do next.
