It's only fitting that Tessa Thompson, the star of Sylvie’s Love who’s played characters ranging from Valkyrie in Avengers: Endgame to Detroit in Sorry to Bother You, experienced her first brush with romance on set. The 37-year-old actress was six years old when her parents casted her to star in a music video opposite a boy around her age named Floyd. They were to kiss on camera, and the rest was history. "I remember that day feeling very adult, so it didn't scare me. I felt like I was born for this." In her Screen Tests with Lynn Hirschberg interview, Thompson discusses how Gordon Parks photographs influenced the idea behind Sylvie’s Love, and why listening to melancholy music makes her feel less alone.
