Stig Lap: ULTRA RARE £1.65m Bizzarrini 5300 GT Corsa Revival | Top Gear

This, folks of the internet, is the Bizzarrini 5300 GT Corsa Revival, a modern continuation of the car that won its class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1965.

Bizzarrini was established in the 1960s by Giotto Bizzarrini, a former Ferrari engineer who’d worked on the 250 GTO and later went on to help develop the V12 used in Lamborghini’s first production car, the 350 GT. 

What you see here then is the brand’s first effort in its new form. Hand-built in the UK, the firm has gone to great lengths to make this revival as true to the original as possible, albeit with a few modifications to meet today’s safety standards.

Just after the first 5300 GT Corsa Revival was delivered to its very lucky owner, one of the 24 examples rolled up to the Top Gear Test Track for a debut hotlap with The Stig. Despite it arriving with a ‘quieter’ exhaust setup, the noise the 5.3-litre V8 made wasn’t exactly subtle.

On an extremely hot day at Dunsfold it managed a 1:28.3, but you’re not buying one of these for lap times, are you? Mind you, the noise has got to be worth the price alone. Now, about that quiet exhaust setup...
