Masks, quarantine and desperate for a vaccine: this isn't about Covid, though | 60 Minutes Australia
May 24 2023
This is what we said about the swine flu outbreak in 2009. And if it doesn't sound eerily familiar, just rewind back to early 2020:

A week ago, we woke up to the news that people in Mexico were sick and dying from swine flu. Since then of course, it's spread around the globe with dozens of suspected cases here in Australia. Now the race is on for a vaccine to save us from this deadly outbreak. But that's weeks...maybe months away. In the meantime we're left with the uncertainty, the fear. We look at a woman's case, someone who flew in from the United States and is now in quarantine. We also look at a national emergency plan to combat the virus. And, we visit the Mexican village where it all began.

For over forty years, 60 Minutes have been telling Australians the world’s greatest stories. Tales that changed history, our nation and our lives. Reporters Liz Hayes, Tom Steinfort, Tara Brown, Nick McKenzie and Amelia Adams look past the headlines because there is always a bigger picture. Sundays are for 60 Minutes.
