Exploring a Coal Mine Stuck in Time
May 18 2018
Built during the short economic boom between the two world wars, the Zollverein in Essen, Germany, is a historic industrial coal mine stuck in time. Reconstructed in the 1920s, the Zollverein adopted a Bauhaus style of architecture featuring a modern, symmetrical aesthetic. Today, the mine is a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site, giving visitors from all over the world the chance to step back in history.
