Sheryl Lee Ralph Tearfully Sings Emmys Speech for Historic Win
Sep 12 2022
It was a historic night for Sheryl Lee Ralph, who won best supporting actress in a comedy series for “Abbot Elementary” at the 2022 Emmy Awards on Monday. Her win makes her the first Black woman to win Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 35 years. The 65-year-old actress was visibly shocked when Amy Pohler and Seth Meyers called her name, taking a few minutes to soak up the moment before walking towards the stage. When she received her award, she tearfully belted out “Endangered Species” by Dianne Reeves, which brought the crowd to their feet.
